iPhone 18 Rumored to Get a 50% RAM Boost

According to a report from South Korea's The Bell, Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 models may see a 50% increase in memory compared to the previous generation.

The latest iPhone series—the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max—are all equipped with 12GB of RAM. This was a significant increase of 4GB over their predecessors, primarily driven by the demands of on-device Artificial Intelligence (AI) processing.

The iPhone 17 was the only new model to continue featuring 8GB of RAM, a situation that now appears set to change with the iPhone 18.

Apple is reportedly aiming for memory parity across all four models.

This means the standard iPhone 18 is expected to come with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Apple has already asked its main iPhone memory supplier, Samsung, to increase its supply of LPDDR5X chips for the next-generation iPhone lineup.

Apple is also said to be in talks with SK Hynix and Micron Technology to secure additional mobile DRAM supply.

The iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone are expected to launch in the Fall of 2026, with the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e following in the first half of 2027.
