iPhone 18 Pro: The Dynamic Island is Staying (But It’s Shrinking)

We are now less than seven months away from the debut of the iPhone 18 Pro series. Despite the controversies of last year, the latest reports suggest the Dynamic Island isn’t going anywhere just yet.

According to a fresh report from Bloomberg, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will indeed feature a smaller Dynamic Island.

No Under-Display Tech for 2026

While many hoped for a seamless screen, the front-facing camera, Face ID sensors, and infrared camera are all expected to remain integrated within the Dynamic Island cutout rather than moving under the display.

Most of the earlier rumors suggesting a "hole-less" design or under-display Face ID surfaced in early 2025. This indicates that Apple either seriously considered the change for the 18 Pro and hit a technical snag, or those reports were simply premature speculation.

The "All-Screen" Dream Moves to 2027

Apple’s ultimate goal remains a completely notch-free, hole-less iPhone. However, it looks like we’ll have to wait for the 20th Anniversary Edition iPhone—planned for 2027—to see that vision realized.

For the 2026 iPhone 18 Pro lineup, the "Island" remains home base.

That’s all for today’s update. Does a smaller Dynamic Island satisfy you, or were you holding out for a totally clear screen? Feel free to leave a comment and join the discussion!
