Apple Orders 22 Million OLED Panels for First Foldable iPhone

According to the latest reports, Apple has ordered 22 million OLED panels from Samsung Display for its first foldable iPhone.

Samsung is the exclusive supplier for the panels and plans to mass-produce 11 million inner folding OLED displays next year, along with 11 million corresponding external displays for Apple.

Apple's production target for the first-generation foldable iPhone is approximately 10 million finished units, which is more than 30% higher than initial industry expectations.

The device is expected to feature a book-style inner folding design, equipped with a 5.35-inch external screen and a 7.58-inch foldable internal screen.

It is understood that the device will utilize an advanced hinge design and special materials to minimize the crease on the foldable screen. Furthermore, it will adopt Under-Display Camera (UDC) technology to achieve a full-screen display effect on the internal screen.

The first foldable iPhone is expected to launch next year alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
